Jamie Samuelsen: Does Mike Valenti Actually Like Sports?

By: Jamie Samuelsen

I've had the great burden…er…pleasure to co-host the Valenti and Foster Show this week while Terry vacations out west.

It's been pointed out to me that Mike can be somewhat negative…er…pragmatic when it comes to talking sports and analyzing the plight of our local teams. At times he seems pained, angry and downright despondent.

So I took it upon myself to determine once and for all whether or not Mike actually likes sports. I mean after all; he earns a living talking about them. You'd assume that he actually likes them. Right? I don't know too many zookeepers who hate animals. Do you?

So I came up with a little exercise that Mikey is going to have to undertake to see if he actually likes watching the same things that we do. We're presenting him with the challenge on Thursday and he has to give us his responses on the show Friday.

Here is what Mike has to tell us.

1) He has to give us the name of FIVE athletes that he would pay to watch in person. One caveat. They have to be from five different sports.

2) He has to give us FIVE games that he would pay to watch in person. One caveat. None of the games can involve his beloved Michigan State Spartans.

3) He has to give us FIVE sports events/happenings that he wants to have happen in his lifetime. One caveat. They can't have happened already (i.e. Celtics title, NY Giants title, Triple Crown in horseracing)

If you have any ideas to tweak or add to these requirements, please let me know. The challenge will be answered tomorrow on the Valenti and Foster Show between 2-6 PM on 97.1 The Ticket.
