Four Children Discovered Alone In Hot Detroit Home

DETROIT (AP/WWJ) - As temperatures soared above 90 degrees with stagnant humidity, police say four young children were taken to a hospital after being found inside a Detroit home with no adult watching them.

Sgt. Michael Woody says the children, ages 9 months to 6 years, had mild dehydration after being discovered Tuesday evening. The Detroit News reports it wasn't known how long they were inside the house.

WXYZ-TV reports a property manager who checked on the house found the children and called police. Woody says the children were expected to be OK.

Another hot and humid day is forecast on Wednesday, with temperatures predicted in the 90s in Detroit. The public school district in Detroit says it planned to close many schools by 11 a.m. on Wednesday due to "extreme heat and humidity conditions."
