Got Complaints? Detroit Invites Public To Weigh In On Bus Service

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Lots of riders grumble about Detroit bus service, voicing complaints about delays, unreliable routes, surly drivers, and more.

Now here's your chance to fill out a complaint card: DDOT is holding a series of Community Input Workshops where the public will be urged to talk about their experience with buses in the city.

These working meetings will allow DDOT to reach customers, residents, community partners and public transit stakeholders in all areas of the city to discuss general ideas to help further develop solid service proposals.

"Engaging the community during the planning process has been very helpful in growing and expanding bus service," says Dan Dirks, DDOT director, in a press release. "Continuing that dialogue and listening to the needs of our customers is very important."

In addition to the community input workshops, DDOT will also hold five formal public hearings where major service changes for September 2016 and January 2017 will be proposed based on input gathered at the workshops. These hearings will also allow DDOT to hear public comments in direct response to the proposed changes.
