2006 American League Champion Magglio Ordoñez To Participate In 10th Anniversary Celebration

DETROIT - Magglio Ordoñez, who hit one of the most memorable home runs in franchise history when his blast sent the Tigers to the World Series in 2006, will participate in the club's 10th Anniversary celebration of the 2006 American League Championship team on Saturday, September 24 at Comerica Park. The Tigers will host the Kansas City Royals with first pitch at 7:10 p.m.

A former Tigers All-Star and American League batting champion, Ordoñez was originally scheduled to attend Fiesta Tigres on August 6 and asked the ball club to reschedule his appearance because of a conflicting commitment. One of the most popular players during his time wearing the Old English 'D', Magglio will participate in a pregame fan Q&A session and also throw out a ceremonial first pitch.

"I am very happy that we were able to reschedule my visit to Detroit to celebrate the 2006 season," Ordoñez said. "I am excited to come back to the city and spend time with the best fans in baseball."

In addition, Magglio will be available at a special autograph signing in The D Shop, prior to the Tigers game against the Royals on September 24. For tickets, mail orders or additional information regarding the autograph signing, please contact Marc Himelstein at 313.471.2064/authentics@tigers.com or visit tigers.com/autographs.
