Fast Moving Storms Leave Scattered Outages Across Metro Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - DTE Energy crews are reporting nearly 13,000 homes and businesses without power as a result of the storms that passed Thursday afternoon. The largest outage of about 4,300 customers is east of Ann Arbor.

Other major outages are near Ypsilanti Township and near I-96 and Newburgh road in Livonia. In some cases trees fell onto power lines. In another case there was an equipment failure.

Other areas with more than 1,000 homes and businesses out of power are near Telegraph and Plymouth on the Redford-Detroit border, near Merriman and Warren in Westland, at Michigan Avenue and Wayne Road in the city of Wayne, and near M-36 and McGregor Road in Pinckney.

A Heat Advisory continues through Friday 10 p.m. we could still see a pop-up storm with the heat and humidity in the forecast says CBS 62 Chief Meteorologist Jim Madaus.
