Reports: Suspect In Chelsea Bruck's Murder Confesses That Crime Was Accidental, Girlfriend Says

MONROE (WWJ) -- Police announced Friday that after nearly two years of searching, a suspect had been arrested in the case of 22-year-old Chelsea Bruck's murder.

Now, the suspect's girlfriend is speaking out about what the 27-year-old Newport man told her about the crime. Kelli Richter told WXYZ that she spoke to her boyfriend from jail over the phone and he confessed that the murder was an accident and that Bruck died during rough sex.

"He did call me today from the jail and he pretty much told me he did it. They told him to tell me the truth and he told me it was an accident and he told me exactly what happened," Richter told the Detroit Free Press.

The man was arrested at his home on Friday, Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone said. He apparently shared that home with Richter and her friend Deanna Boring.

"It's just so scary because you know, we were left with him and who knew what could happen," Richter told WXYZ. "I was with him every night for the last month."

Bruck's remains were discovered on April 24, 2015 — several months after her disappearance — in a wooded lot on Briar Hill Road in Ash Township. Police were called after construction workers found the remains.

Since that time, the sheriff's office says detectives have spoken with a large number of people who attended the massive Halloween party at a rural property on Post Road in Frenchtown Township on October 25, 2014, where she was last seen.
