Unidentified Body Found Rolled In Carpet Behind Vacant Home

DETROIT (WWJ) - An investigation is underway after a decomposed body was found early Monday morning on Detroit's west side.

According to Detroit police, the human remains — rolled in carpet and wrapped in a plastic bag — were discovered behind a vacant home in the 7600-block of Fenkell, about five blocks west of Livernois, just after 12 a.m.

Police said the person has not yet been identified, and no information about the victim was immediately released — including whether it was a man or a woman.

There have been no arrests in connection with the case.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner's office will conduct an autopsy to determine a cause of death.
