15-Year-Old Charged As Adult In Stabbing Of Another Teen

ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - A 15-year-old suburban Detroit boy is being charged as an adult with assault with intent to commit murder in the stabbing of another teen during an argument.

Roseville police say the 15-year-old was arraigned Thursday and ordered held in a Macomb County juvenile detention facility on a $100,000 bond.

The 16-year-old victim from Eastpointe was rushed to a local hospital on Monday and immediately underwent open heart surgery to repair the damage to and around his heart, caused by the stabbing, police said. He remains in critical condition.

According to authorities prior to being transported to the hospital, the victim was able to tell officers the name of his attacker. Police located the suspect approximately 30 minutes after the stabbing.

Police say the victim confronted the 15-year-old about a rumor supposedly being spread about his girlfriend.

Neither victim nor the alleged attacker have been named due to their ages.

A preliminary examination is scheduled for Aug. 10.
