Authorities Identify Body Found Floating In Clinton River

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ/AP) - Authorities have identified the body of a 60-year-old homeless man found floating in the Clinton River Tuesday evening.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office said Thursday the family of Anthony Ramar has been notified of his death.

The Mount Clemens man's body was spotted by a Harrison Township man boating with his family in the water near 32 Riverview Street and MacArthur Park.

Ramar was found with identification in his pocket and was recognized by sheriff's deputies who had encountered him in the past.

Authorities said the man's remains, which were tangled in debris a few feet from shore, appeared to have been in the water for some time.

In a statement earlier this week, the department said there were no signs of foul play.

Investigators were working to determine how Ramar died and how long ago he died. Autopsy results are pending.
