The Snack Attack: Swedish Fish Oreos -- Delicious Or Disgusting? [TASTE TEST]

When Nabiso revealed it was introducing a Swedish Fish flavored Oreo, the world responded with a resounding "NO! WHY? What are they thinking?!"

But me, never denying my inner fat kid, I was actually kind of excited. So far this year, the limited edition flavored Oreos -- Strawberry Shortcake, Fruity Crisp, Blueberry Pie, Choco Chip -- have all been relatively normal. But this quirky Swedish Fish flavor is so out of the box, I was instantly intrigued.

I honestly (more like foolishly) had high hopes for these. There was a little part of me that thought, "Hmm, these might actually work." Boy, was I wrong.

Review: Swedish Fish Oreos

Appearance: These cookies would be perfect for a Halloween party, with their blood-red creme. The color is so bright that it makes the cookie wafer look jet black.

Aroma: The smell of these cookies is almost enough to make you retch. At first it smells exactly like a Swedish Fish. But then the scent of the chocolate cookies quickly starts to mingle with the fruity berry scent and the resulting combination is just awful.

Taste: Quite frankly, these were way worse that I was imagining. The first cookie was OK, the second one was hard to choke down and I had to stop eating the third one. I even tried dipping one in milk, which made it slightly more edible but it was still hard to swallow.

The creme itself tastes exactly like a Swedish Fish, so good job there (I guess). It's tart, tangy and fruity. But when combined with the chocolate cookie, everything goes wrong. By the second bite, the Swedish Fish flavor waned and all I could taste was medicine. That nasty, nasty medicinal taste that lingers in your throat, no matter what you do. And once that flavor enters your mouth, it's the ONLY thing you can taste.

Maybe, just maybe, they would have tasted better if Nabisco went with the golden Oreo cookie instead of the chocolate variety. But I kind of doubt it.

Pros: Honestly, there are none.

Cons: Literally everything about these cookies is a con. Everything. These cookies need to go to the flavor graveyard and never, NEVER, come back.

Rating: 1 out of 10 -- The ONLY reason this didn't a big, fat zero is because the creme actually does taste like Swedish Fish. But other than that, just... no.
