Double Homicide In Oak Park; Police Question Man In Connection With Murders

OAK PARK (WWJ) - Police are investigating after finding the bodies of two woman in Oak Park Wednesday night.

According to investigators, the two women, who were identified as sisters, were found shot to death around 7 p.m. It happened at a home on Church Street near Northend, south of 9 Mile Road.

One woman was found deceased inside a car, and the other victim was located inside the home. Police are questioning a suspect in the case, the husband of the older sister; he turned himself in shortly after the incident.

No other details surrounding the shooting, the victims or the suspect have been released.

Hershel Venoy, who lives across the street, said he saw the aftermath of the shooting unfold.

"It's a very private family. I came home to see what had happened and I'm really surprised. It's very eerie," Venoy told WWJ's Charlie Langton.

Ashanti Cheney, who also lives in the neighborhood, said it was hard to believe something like this happened so close to her home.

"It's just kind of scary because nothing like that ever happens in Oak Park. So, it's just really like kind of freaky and scary," she said.

According to reports, the suspect may have been married to one of the sisters.
