Body Found In Pond Near Shelby Township Apartments

SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) - Shelby Township police are investigating after a body was found near Oak Hill Apartments on West Utica Road.

Police told WWJ Newsradio 950 that the body was discovered by contractors in a retention pond on the south side of the property, at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Officers remained on the scene after noon.

Police said the body was that of a female, but there was no further information available, including her age. Police said identification was not immediately confirmed and an official cause of death was not determined.

It's unclear if foul play is suspected in the woman's death.

An investigation is ongoing.
