Hillary Clinton Makes Stop At WSU To Rally Michiganders To Get Out The Vote

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Hillary Clinton Monday making her first campaign visit to Detroit since August.

The Democratic presidential candidate returns to Michigan within hours of what is being called a cringe worthy debate against her opponent Republican Donald Trump.

Clinton will stump at Wayne State University's Matthaei Center for votes and for Michiganders to register to vote ahead of the November 8 election.

Wayne State student Sawyer Smith is volunteering for Clinton's campaign.

"I try to be, I'm an athlete - so I'm really busy all the time," said Smith. "This past year I phone-banked for Bernie (Sanders) quite a bit. I did a lot of work for him."

But now Smith says he is with her as an anti-Trump vote more than anything, saying the Republican nominee came off like a child in last night's debate.

The deadline to register to vote in the current election is Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will spend much of this week campaigning in Pennsylvania and Florida--though his supporters will hold a Trump "flash mob" outside during Clinton's appearance.

Trump is leaving no doubt that he'll spend the election's final weeks dredging up decades-old sexual allegations against Hillary Clinton's husband, even if it turns off voters whose support he desperately needs.

Faced with questions in Sunday's debate about his own predatory remarks about women, Trump accused Bill Clinton of having been "abusive to women" and said Hillary Clinton attacked those women "viciously." He declared the Democratic nominee had "tremendous hate in her heart."
Clinton tried at times to take the high road, glossing over Trump's charges and accusing him of trying to distract from his political troubles.

Indeed, Trump entered the debate facing enormous pressure from the Republican Party and even his own running mate.

The rally at Matthaei Center begins at 2:45 pm.
