Boyfriend In Custody After Woman Found Dead In Car Outside Harrison Township Home

HARRISON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A 34-year-old man is being questioned by investigators after a 48-year-old woman was found dead in the backseat of her car parked in front of a house in Harrison Township.

Detectives with the Macomb County Sheriff's office were called to a 911 call after the body was discovered just before 8 a.m. Friday, on Cloverleaf Street, near South River Road.

Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said they are investigating the case as a homicide.

"There was a large amount of blood in the front of the vehicle and in the back of the vehicle," Wickersham told WWJ's Laura Bonnell and other reporters. "We immediately cordoned off the area."

Wickersham said area residents reported hearing arguing earlier, and that the man in custody had been dating the victim.

Wickersham said detectives believe that whatever happened to the woman may have started inside her boyfriend's home, eight doors down the street from where she was found dead.

"Our investigators are still combing that house with a search warrant, looking for evidence of a crime," the sheriff said, adding that he does believe the man now in custody will be charged in the case within the next day or two.

The woman's identity has not been released as authorities are working to notify her family. Wickersham said she was a resident of St. Clair Shores.

Wickersham is not saying at this time how investigators believe she died.
