Police: Woman Struck By Several Cars In Fatal Hit And Run Near Telegraph

DETROIT (WWJ) - An investigation continues on Detroit's west side Thursday night where a woman was hit and killed after being struck by several cars.

Police say the woman, believed to be in her 60s, was walking near Six Mile Road and Telegraph when she was hit by the first car before being run over by several other cars.

The first car that hit the woman fled the scene -- other witnesses stopped at the accident.

Authorities believe the first vehicle to hit her was a dark color, possibly maroon, SUV.

"Initial investigation shows that when she was hit by the initial vehicle, she did fall and was struck at least a couple of other times by other vehicles," said Detroit Police Captain Mark Thorn.

Thorn says there will be visible damage to the suspects vehicle.

"There are several video cameras that are in the area so we are hoping to be able to gather more information - once that video is reviewed," said Thorn.

Anyone with information is asked to call police immediately.
