Can It Be So? Snowflakes Spotted Falling In Metro Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Halloween may be days away, but some say it's already beginning to look a like Christmas in metro Detroit.

WWJ Newsradio 950 has been taking calls from listeners, Wednesday afternoon, who've seen snow falling in communities across the area.

Ben was in Wixom when he had to do a double take.

"I was driving down Wixom Road and I was stopped at a stoplight and saw, you know, what I thought were heavier raindrops — and then I realized those were actually snowflakes falling."

"It's way too early!" the Canton man, who didn't want to give his last name, told WWJ's Zahra Huber. "The last time I saw snowflakes this early was when I lived up in the UP; so this is way too early for around here."

Ben added that while he doesn't mind the colder weather, he'd rather not see snow until after Thanksgiving.

Others said they saw snow falling in Farmington Hills, Waterford, Commerce and Westland. (Have you seen snow falling? Where? Comment below)

WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean DeVore said Wednesday that a low-pressure system would spread rain across the area; but with cold temperatures in the low 40s, he said some snowfall was possible — especially north of I-69.

Rain, maybe with some snowflakes mixed in, is expected to continue into overnight and into Thursday.
