Mom, Son Injured After Car Leaves Roadway, Slams Into Pole In Clawson

CLAWSON (WWJ) - A mom and her 9-year-old son are in serious injury after the car they were in slammed into a pole.

Clawson police say that the 45-year-old mom was behind the wheel when the car left the road and crashed into a pole -- injuring both the mom and her young son.

The accident happened in the area of 14 Mile Road - just east of Custer.

Lt. Scott Sarvello, a detective with the Clawson police department, says that upon arrival at the scene they discovered the car had struck a utility pole, "on the north side of 14 Mile which holds display banners for the city."

The mom remains in stable condition and her son is listed in critical condition -- neither have been identified by authorities.

At this point speed and alcohol do not appear to be a factor but the use of prescription medications by the driver is being investigated.

The case remains under investigation.
