Cubs Lead The Way On The Junk Bump; Next Big Thing In Sports?

By Christy Strawser
DETROIT (CBS Detroit)
First, it was the standard high five, then sports cheers evolved into the fist bump, and its popular variation the chest bump.

Every once in awhile, there's a well-executed butt slap.

But the Chicago Cubs took clubhouse celebrations farther south than they've ever gone before, with a round of enthusiastic "junk bumps" following David Ross' epic home run.

And a celebration was born.

Let's just say not everyone is a fan.

It leaves us with plenty of questions.

What's the equivalent for women? The boob smash? ("Yes, please," say straight men everywhere.)

At what age does the junk bump become appropriate? Is it something, say, we'll see at the next Little League World Series?

And, will it spread to other sports? It could be a tripping hazard in some sports or someone could lose an eye.

Perhaps, it's only appropriate in the last game of the World Series or perhaps it's never OK.

One woman summed it up succinctly on Twitter, writing, "men are weird."
