Ford Field To Host PAL Football Championships On Sunday

DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Police Athletic League 2016 youth football championships are coming to Ford Field.

The games are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Sunday and will stretch into late afternoon.

Organizers say the championships typically draw more than 6,000 fans and Police Athletic League supporters. More than 3,000 youth participate each year in Detroit PAL's football program.

Championship games will be played Sunday in several age divisions by youth between 5 and 14. Detroit PAL cheerleaders also will perform.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig and former Detroit Lions offensive lineman Rob Sims will speak in the afternoon.

Tickets can be purchased Sunday at the gate.
