Stevie Wonder Performs Awe-Inspiring Star Spangled Banner On The Harmonica

A Motown legend graced the Ed Sullivan Theater and performed an amazing version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" on the harmonica.

Backed by Colbert's band leader Jon Batiste on the melodica.

If you're also confused by the middle part where he plays a different tune, a YouTube comment hints that it is "Lift Every Voice and Sing" which is referred to as the "Black American National Anthem".

An apparent remnant from Colbert's election night coverage, the video was posted to "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" YouTube channel Wednesday. "Go vote!" said Colbert to viewing audience at the conclusion of the song.

Stevland "Stevie Wonder" Morris got his break in Detroit with Berry Gordy's Motown records. He has 30 U.S. top ten hits and won 25 Grammy Awards.

A section of Milwaukee Ave near Woodward is planned to be renamed for Wonder in Detroit.
