DETROIT (AP) — Freshman Cameron Martinez has scored two touchdowns in leading Muskegon Catholic Central to a 35-6 victory over Ottawa Lake Whiteford in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 8 state championship.

Martinez rushed for 154 yards and one score, while passing for 61 yards with another touchdown Friday at Ford Field in Detroit.

LaTommy Scott ran for 69 yards and Logan Helton finished with 67 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Crusaders (14-0), who won their fourth consecutive state title and sixth overall since the MHSAA went to eight divisions in 1999.

Thomas Eitniear rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown and passed for 96 yards for Ottawa Lake Whiteford (13-1), which was seeking its first Division 8 title.

Holding a 7-6 halftime lead, the Crusaders scored twice in the third quarter to open a comfortable advantage. Helton's 26-yard touchdown run made it 14-6 and Martinez scored on a 5-yard run for a 21-6 edge.

Eitniear scored on an 81-yard run in the second quarter to get the Bobcats within 7-6. Catholic Central's defense pitched a shutout the rest of the way.
