Trey Songz Charged With Assaulting Police Officer After Outburst At Joe Louis Arena [VIDEO]

DETROIT (WWJ) - R&B artist Trey Songz has been arraigned on felony charges in Detroit after throwing a tantrum on stage and allegedly punching a cop at Joe Louis Arena.

He appeared for a brief video arraignment in 36th District Court at noon on Thursday on one count of assaulting a police officer and one count of aggravated assault. Bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety.

Detroit police say the "Bottoms Up" singer, whose legal name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, became belligerent on stage around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday when someone told him his time was up.

The 32-year-old taunted those in charge, repeatedly singing "Go on and do it, cut me off," followed by, "A n**** cut me off, I'm going the f*** crazy. You understand?"

When his microphone was finally cut, police Neverson went into a frenzy, throwing microphones and speakers, whatever he could get his hands on, across the stage.

Officers went on stage to calm situation down, but Neverson continued throwing things.

According to prosecutors, Neverson threw an object which struck an individual in the head. When police approached Neverson to arrest him, Neverson allegedly struck an officer with his fist causing a concussion.

Neverson was arrested at the scene for resisting and obstructing and for malicious destruction of property and taken to the Detroit Detention Center. The expected charges were elevated following further investigation.

Trey Songz was the final act of the night, billed as The Big Show at The Joe, which also featured Chris Brown and Lil Yachty.

The injured officer is recovering at home, police said.

Neverson's next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 5.
