Program To Show Building Owners How To Cut Energy, Water Use

DETROIT (AP) - An energy conservation program is reaching out to owners and managers of small, commercial buildings in Detroit to show them ways to cut their energy and water use in half.

The Detroit 2030 District's May 16 meeting at Next Energy also will give information on how to lower transportation greenhouse gas emissions.

The program focuses on reducing energy and water usage costs by the year 2030. Detroit's 2030 District is one of 19 such districts across the country.

With support from the Michigan Energy Office, several efforts have been launched locally to help owners or managers of small buildings, houses of worship and multifamily buildings focus on cutting those bills and improving the environment by reducing emissions.

There also are 2030 Districts in Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor.
