Detroit Development To Bring New Housing Near Downtown

DETROIT (AP) - A developer plans to bring 374 lofts, townhouses, flats and high-rise units to Detroit's Lafayette Park neighborhood.

The city says the Lafayette-West development will include rentals, owner-occupied units and parking. At least 20 percent of the rental units will be set aside as affordable housing.

Ginosko Development is expected to invest $108 million in Lafayette West, just east of downtown. The project will include 114 luxury rental units, 200 rental lofts and 60 townhouses, carriage houses and stacked flats.

Each unit is designed to be within walking or biking distance to downtown, major employment, recreational areas and neighborhood shopping.

Ginosko expects to break ground early next year.
