Detroit Police Precincts To Celebrate National Night Out

DETROIT (CBS DETROIT/AP) — Police precincts in Detroit have scheduled a number of community-building events as part of the annual National Night Out observance.

The 2nd Police Precinct will feature a petting farm, pony rides, games and health wellness checks beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Other precincts are hosting events that include bounce houses for children, mobile libraries, live music, food and other games.

National Night Out is designed to enhance relationships between residents and law enforcement while bringing back a sense of community.

Nationwide, thousands of communities plan to hold neighborhood block parties, festivals, cookouts, safety demonstrations and seminars for National Night Out. It's held annually on the first Tuesday in August.
