(CBS DETROIT) – Members of the Michigan Caucus of Rank and File Educators say it is too dangerous to resume in person classes.

They’re asking for lawmakers to step in and also lobby for more funding.

The organization also says trauma to students’ families caused by the pandemic must be addressed.

I think most people would agree that the kids need to be back in school, for a variety of reasons. But until such time as it can be done safely, considering the fatality rate, for everybody involved, I think it’s best to do online learning. I understand there are challenges with this as well, but we have to do everything possible to protect our kids, school staff, and the families of both and online learning is the safest path. Incidentally, I, myself, do not have school aged children.
