Ask A Detroit Expert: Your Best Hot Winter Drink
Shawn Kelly is a bartender at Woodbridge Pub, a neighborhood bar and eatery in Detroit. This is the spot for a laid-back evening of drinking and conversing with friends - especially when the winter wind is howling and the snow is outrageous. We asked Shawn to recommend his favorite winter drink and he shared his recipe for the "Just Fig It." Just Fig It
In a mixing glass build:
- 2 tsp fig pit (can substitute fig jam if need be)
- 1 dash nutmeg
- 1 dash cinnamon sugar
- 2 oz Hayman's Old Tom Gin
- Can be served with choice of Chai or Wesley Great Lakes Black Tea
Directions:
Muddle ingredients together, add ice and shake. Strain into coffee mug. Add hot water and garnish with a lime, wink at the patron and serve.
