Detroit may not have the highest-performing schools in the country, but with the economy on a relative upswing, many students and young adults are looking to improve upon their education by seeking help outside of the classroom on a regular basis. And when it comes to higher education, there is little out there in terms of qualification and preparation like there is in the ACT and SAT tests. The Mercy Education Project has been fighting for the rights and educational empowerment of women and girls within the city of Detroit since 1992. While many inner-city youth and young adults may have a poor living situation or schooling program, women, more so than men, struggle to fight through aspects of adversity in order to earn their degrees. With the support of the community and qualified volunteers, the Mercy Education Project focuses its students on the best skills and practices to implement to help them succeed in certain test-taking environments, such as the ACT and SAT. In addition, programs are open to children of all ages.
