Best Country Bars In Metro Detroit

Detroit and country don't often go hand in hand, but there's a surprisingly large amount of bars that have country dancing nights. Check this list for the best in the area.

Toby Keith owns a few "I Love This Bar and Grill" restaurants, and one can be found in Auburn Hills. The bar features live music all week long, plasma TVs, its "Whiskey Girls" and live country music and dancing. It also has a full bar (85 feet and guitar-shaped) and a mechanical bull, named "Toby." The restaurant also has two private indoor "barns," located adjacent to the dance floor, which are available for private parties, events or group nights out, as well as a VIP room, also near the dance floor. The last week of January features live dance lessons on the 28th (6 p.m.) and Hubie Ashcraft & the Drive playing the last weekend (January 30th and 31st).

Coyote Joe's is one of the biggest country bars in the Detroit area, clocking in at over 10,000 square feet. The restaurant has a mechanical bull (rides are $5) and features Ladies' Night ($1 drinks, no cover from 7 to 10 p.m., free line dancing lessons, and free bull rides), College Night (every Friday, $2 draft beers, no cover with college ID and free for ladies) and "Fave Fridays" ($5 or $10 a person, with multiple food/drink options) are offered. The club also has live entertainment - check the website for the musician schedule.

Mustang Jane's says it's "not your grandpa's country bar," and it combines country, top 40s and rock 'n roll music. It's located in downtown Pontiac, and features Ladies Night on Saturday, which includes $2 mixed drinks and beer (9 to 11 p.m.) and free cover for everyone until 11 p.m.; ladies are also able to ride its mechanical bull all night for free. The venue can also be rented for private parties, and the dance floor can hold up to 500 people.

Diamondback Saloon features karaoke nights, live entertainment and signature nights, such as Dancing Wednesdays, Ladies Night Thursdays and Hick/Hop Fridays. Drop by on a Wednesday night and take a line dancing class from Phyllis, or ladies can show up on Thursdays for no cover, drink specials (including some for 50 cents) and $1 bottled beer. Fridays include $1 beers, $2 premium shots and house band Derringer on stage. The Saloon can be found on the North I-94 service drive in Belleville.

Wiseguys is known for playing lots of country music, and it has two locations, both in Clinton Township: Garfield Road (listed above) and Harper Road. Its specials nights range from Captain Morgan Mondays (karaoke plus all Captain drinks starting at $2.50); Canadian Club Tuesdays as well as beer pong tournaments; Ladies Night Wednesdays ($1 off all drinks after 9 p.m.); vAbsolut Thirsty Thursdays; and live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. A DJ and karaoke is available Sunday through Thursday starting at 9 p.m., and food and drink specials are also available during the bar's "Sunday Fundays."
