Originally writing westerns in the 1950s, Elmore Leonard turned to writing crime fiction and suspense thrillers. He is noted for his gritty realism and strong dialogue. Among his best-known works are Get Shorty, Out of Sight, Hombre, Mr. Majestyk and Rum Punch, which was later filmed as Jackie Brown. Two of Leonard's short stories were adapted to the films 3:10 to Yuma and The Tall T. Leonard lives with his family in Oakland County.
