Best Places In The Detroit Area To Learn Something
The Henry Ford
20900 Oakwood Blvd.
Dearborn, MI 48124
(313) 982-6001
www.thehenryford.org
It's simply the best historical museum I've ever been to. I remember the first time my parents took me, and I was fascinated by everything. I went back this past summer, and felt the same way. And if that wasn't enough, walk through Greenfield Village and live in a dozen different eras of our country's history. If you haven't seen the Detroit Symphony Orchestra perform with the July fireworks, you aren't a real Michigan resident.
Detroit Institute Of Arts
5200 Woodward Avenue
Detroit, Michigan 48202

Boasting one of the largest art collections in the country, the DIA is a great place for dates, class trips, or just a nice quiet place to walk around and see some great works.
Detroit Science Center (temporarily closed)
5020 John R Street
Detroit, MI 48202

With hands-on exhibits for kids (and, let's be honest, adults), the only domed IMAX screen in the state, a world-class planetarium, and countless shows and demonstrations, the DSC should definitely be on your must-visit list.
Cranbrook Institute of Science

You can never have enough science. Michigan's Museum of Natural History has amazing shows to teach you about the plants, animals, and other wonders of the world in which we live. Cranbrook also has one of the best planetariums in the country, and an awesome observatory.

With 10 different environments, you can see animals from all over the world and learn about how they live. The Zoo is also a great place to learn about conservation. See the animals, ride the Tauber Family Railroad, feed the giraffes: it's all a great time.
