Dates: May 23 through 25, 2015

You won't want to miss the Movement Electronic Music Festival this Memorial Day downtown, though Ryan Gosling probably won't be filming there, again, like last year. The MEMF is held annually inside Hart Plaza, and more than 100 artists and legends of electronic music gather to perform. Tickets prices range from $150 3-day general admission to $260 3-day VIP tickets, which are limited; tickets can be bought at certain stores in Detroit, Hamtramck, Royal Oak, and on the west side of the state, like Grand Rapids. You can also buy tickets online at the MEMF's website.

Downtown Ann Arbor

Date: June 20, 2015

For those who don't want to party all night in Hart Plaza, the Ann Arbor Book Festival is a good alternative. Its street fair takes place on June 20, and the festival itself is June 17 through 20, which includes the Midnight Book Crawl, where literary fans gather in local restaurants/shops/bars to hear authors and poets read their latest works, the street fair, and the Writer's Conference. The AABF street fair is held downtown, canvassing the university and downtown itself. The event will include programming and many authors and stores can be found in the booths lining the streets of Ann Arbor during the festival.
