THE DEFENSE

Q: Well Molly, it seems to be windy in Detroit today! <yelling over the wind>

A: Yes, it is!

Q: What brings you Downtown to The Spirit of Detroit?

A: I've always seen it on TV and I wanted to see if for myself. My friend and I are having lunch at the Hard Rock Café.

Q: Without getting blown over into the Detroit River, tell me about your car.

A: It's a 2009 GMC Acadia. We went to the dealership and I had my husband buy it. The main purpose of my car is to get me around. It gets me to work, grocery shopping and carts my girls around.

Q: How many girls do you have?

A: Three. They are 16, nine, and six.

Q: Sixteen? Does she drive?

A: Yes. She has a job and sometimes she drives this to school.

Q: Does the Acadia make your commute to work better or worse?

A: For going back and forth to work, it's great. I feel really safe with all the wacky commuters who don't know how to stay on their own side of the road. You know, I've got a tank here, so to speak. For long trips it's great because it has the DVD player in it, so the girls are entertained. It's comfortable and rides smooth. It's got the big tires, so it handles the bumps really well.

Q: Do you have a nickname for your car?

A: The Baby because it's reliable and it keeps my babies safe. I get into it, tell it thank you.

Q: Finally, you must be very proud of your car. Tell us about it being family built.

A: I am. My husband helped build it and it was made in Lansing. Go Spartans! I like to drive cars that my family worked on, that made them money. My dad worked at Ford for 30 years. My husband works for companies that make GM products. I'm very loyal.
