Three reasons they absolutely should not have played the Journey song “Don’t Stop Believing” during the third period of the Red Wings’ playoff game Thursday night:
1. Journey is a band originated in the Bay Area of California – like the Red Wings’ opponents, the San Jose Sharks.
2. Journey has exploited this area for years with the line, “Born and raised in South Detroit.” There is the Eastside. There is Downriver. There is Southern and Northern Oakland County. There is Western Wayne County. There are many neigborhoods in Detroit like Rosedale Park, Palmer Park, Brightmoor, etc. THERE IS NO SOUTH DETROIT!!!!!!!!!
3. The song is trite and lame and whimpy. If one of the many great artists from this fine state had the gall to perform it, we would disown them.
