Look Out For Health Insurance Scams

Pat Sweeting Reporting

Medicare recipients are being warned to be on the lookout for shady salesmen trying to get you to sign-up for phony supplemental health insurance.

Reports indicate that fake federal employees claiming to represent ObamaCare have already targeted senior apartment buildings in Missouri selling supplemental Medicare policies.

In an AARP online Scam Alert, Rona McNally of Missouri's federally funded Senior Medicare Patrol explains that these ObamaCare scam artists "... go door to door, saying they need to talk about your Medicare benefits, and that you may need to take a certain plan in order to get coverage."  McNally says "They use fear, they use change as an opportunity to get to seniors."

"The government does not go door-to-door selling insurance," McNally says, "so if someone comes to your home to sell you a plan, shut the door."
