Fill Your Weekend With Lights, Shopping And Music

'Tis the season! Whether you take in a holiday concert or take the kids to see Santa or whimsical lights, there will be plenty of festivity and fun all weekend long.

Detroit Waldorf Community Chorus presents a concert for the whole family to enjoy. Some familiar music and some new, all with sumptuous arrangements, it is an ideal holiday activity. Catch a performance Friday, December 10 at 7:30pm and Saturday, December 11 at 3:00pm at the Detroit Waldorf School, 2555 Burns Detroit MI (with secure parking). General admission tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door, and patron-ticket information is available on the school's website.

Saturday December 11th, Downtown Ferndale is the place to be for winter fun! Skate around the ice rink, meet live reindeer, take a free hayride, and stroll through town looking at the ice carvings.  Plenty of fun from 9 am to 6 pm.

Downtown Rochester is known for going above and beyond with holiday lights. This year buildings will be covered in more than 1.5 million points of glimmering holiday light! Take in the sights with The Big, Bright, Light Show Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6 pm to midnight. Enjoy shopping, dining, and a horse-drawn carriage ride around the city. Rides start at $10 and depart from the corner of E. Fourth and Main Street.

Discover the Magic of Birmingham on Saturday December 11th through December 18th from 11 am to 5 pm. Do a bit of shopping, hop on a free carriage ride and listen to the carolers. There is even a holiday kids' parade, along with a model train exhibit. Also, listen to classic rock tunes fromWCSX 94.7, and sip a free hot cocoa from Zuma Coffee Shop.

Head down to the Detroit Film Theatre (at the DIA) and experience Woodward Wonderland! Artist's from the Mosaic Youth Theatre perform whimsical holiday stories, joyous songs, loving memories and surprises with a unique Detroit spin. Show times are as follows: Friday December 10th and Saturday, December 11th at 8pm, Sunday December 12th at 4pm. Tickets range from $10-$30, and are available to purchase here .

The kids are in for a treat when they see their favorite books take the stage in mini-musicals at the Kids' Musical Revue at the Michigan Theater (603 E. Liberty St.) in Ann Arbor. The mini-musicals based on the children's books Duck for President, Fancy Nancy, and more will be showing Sunday December 12, at 1:30 pm. Tickets are $12-$14.
