Getting Fit For The New Year

Is one of your New Year's resolutions to get in better shape?

Sports Club of Novi personal trainer Jimi Varner held a New Years boot camp Saturday, and tells WWJ that people should ease into a fitness program.  He says start off walking, which is a great form of exercise that everyone can do.

He says if you want to work on strength, you should try squats, pushups and lunges.  Varner  says he's asked everyday about whether the treadmill or elliptical is better.  He says the answer is simple: whatever feels more comfortable.

Varner, who is also the trainer for the M-T-V reality show "I Used to be Fat", says set realistic expectations for yourself because he says if you stick with it, the results will come.
