Iggy Pop And The Stooges Return To Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) Iggy Pop and the Stooges return to Ann Arbor to play a special concert this spring in honor of the legendary group's late guitarist, Ron Asheton.

Born in Muskegon but raised on punk, Iggy Pop makes a long awaited hometown return to his punk rock roots in Ann Arbor.

The Detroit News and the Free Press report the show is set for April 19 at the Michigan Theater.

Henry Rollins will perform and act as the night's master of ceremonies.

The concert is organized as a benefit for the Ron Asheton Foundation. Asheton was 60 when he died of a heart attack at home in Ann Arbor.

He missed out on the band's long-awaited induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a year later.

Tickets cost $59.50 and $39.50 and go on sale February 18.
