DETROIT (WWJ) – Presidents Day is generally seen as a good day to shop for a car and as WWJ AutoBeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert tells us, there are more deals than normal this year.

“We lost eight percent of dealers in 2009 and another 4.4 percent last year,” says Randy Berlin of the consulting firm Urban Science, allowing the remaining dealers to sell more cars each. “We are seeing some very, very positive increases for those dealers both in profitability and volumes,” Berlin says.

Honda has deals on a number of vehicles including the Pilot, Accord and Civics. In fact, the Civic is going less than invoice because they are going for less than invoice-because they are clearing out inventory to make room for new ones.
