DEARBORN HTS. (WWJ) – A Dearborn Heights resident is dead after a fire broke out in her home.
A fire quickly swept through the home of 69-year-old Patricia Tomkowski, killing her before she could make it out. The incident happened Friday evening in the 25000 block of Lehigh Street in Dearborn Heights.READ MORE: Michigan Reports 182 New COVID-19 Cases, 26 Deaths
WWJ’s Chrystal Knight said authorities have yet to comment on the cause of death, but it appears that Tomkowski may have died from smoke inhalation.READ MORE: Will The Ford Maverick Be A Game-Changer In The Auto Industry?
According to a report, the fire chief said there were no working smoke detectors in the home and that could have been the difference between life and death.
