Crew Cracks Ann Arbor Mystery Safe

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - After months of waiting, the secret treasures locked up safely for years inside an Ann Arbor safe, have finally been revealed. Friday morning, the safe at the Tower Mini Market on Maynard was literally cracked open at a local towing company.

Nabeel Gneym, who inherited the giant safe when he bought the Convenient Store on Maynard back in February, said inside were two opals, a two dollar bill and a key.

Gneym told WWJ's Kathryn Larson that getting the safe out of the store was a really difficult process.

"Because it's 5,000 pounds, seven-foot tall and solid rock. I mean, it's like a mountain, so, it was not easy to get it out," Gneym said.

Gneym said he's letting the towing guys keep the loot, but plans to hold onto the key.  He believes it could open a similarly locked safe at a nearby restaurant.
