Detroit 300 Beefing Up Its Ranks

DETROIT (WWJ) - A grass-roots crime-fighting outfit in Detroit is about to get some reinforcements.

The Detroit 300 is responsible for helping to nab a serial rapist on Detroit's east side and getting other bad guys off the street by going door-to-door generating tips. Now, with the recent jump in deadly shootings in Detroit, the group wants to organize satellite patrols around the city.

The popular crime fighting group will hold a swearing-in ceremony Monday night for new volunteers. State Senator Bert Johnson will swear in those volunteers at 7:30 pm at the Northwest Activities Center.
