Local Dr. Hosts Back-To-School Live Facebook Chat

NOVI (WWJ) - Battling back-to-school worries? This time of year, parents have many questions – from how to transition from a laid back summer schedule to a busy school time routine, to concerns about discipline, behavior, and potty training.

Take a deep breath and take out your calendar. Join a back-to-school live chat on Facebook presented by Learning Care Group on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 9:00 to 10:30 p.m., hosted by Dr. Heather Wittenberg, a licensed child psychologist and mother of four children.

The chat will be held simultaneously on the Facebook pages for Learning Care Group's school brands – Childtime, The Children's Courtyard, La Petite Academy and Tutor Time.

Dr. Wittenberg specializes in the development of babies, toddlers, preschoolers and parents. Come hear her practical, real-world advice about parenting young children.

Get your toughest questions ready:

  • Is my child ready?
  • What if he has a meltdown?
  • How can I prevent separation anxiety?
  • How will she adjust to the new schedule?

"It's back to school at my house, too," Dr. Wittenberg said in a release. "I'll tell you why my 5-year-old already 'hates' recess, how my 21-month-old has started awakening at night again – and what we're doing to help ease their transition to this new, busy time of year. I'll share my own hard-won parenting tips – which I've 'road tested' in my own home – and fact-checked with the newest, best child-development research. I can't wait to 'talk' with all of you online with our new video format!"

Just for joining the conversation, eight chat participants will have a chance to win a $100 Target gift card.

"Back to school is such an exciting time for all of our families," Stacy DeWalt, Chief Marketing Officer, Learning Care Group, said in a release. "We know that parents have many questions during this time of year, and we're delighted to present this live chat to help make the back-to-school transition a smooth one."
