Report: Family Advising Lions' Best To Sit Rest Of 2011

The Lions could be without running back Jahvid Best for several weeks after he suffered his second concussion of the season and third since his junior year at California.

According to a CBSSports.com report, Best has been advised by "people close to him" to strongly consider sitting out the rest of the 2011 season.

Lions coach Jim Schwartz said Wednesday that the Lions expected to get Best back as soon as he passed baseline concussion tests. Best was bothered Sunday by bright light and either wouldn't or couldn't comment to reporters questions in the locker room on Wednesday.

The Lions are very thin at the position after Tuesday's proposed trade of Jerome Harrison to the Eagles for Ronnie Brown was nixed when Harrison wasn't passed on his physical. According to an ESPN.com report, Harrison was failed because the Eagles' doctors detected a growth near his brain that could be a tumor.

Maurice Morris has worked with the first-team offense this week and will start at Dallas.
