Mike Epps Returning To Fox Theatre

DETROIT (WWJ) - Get ready, Detroit! Funnyman Mike Epps is returning to the Fox Theatre on Wednesday, November 23, for a performance with special guest Sheryl Underwood.

Epps is currently filming the remake of Sparkle, which is being shot in Detroit. Sparkle also stars American Idol winner Jordin Sparks and Whitney Houston, who doubles as an executive producer on the film. The original Sparkle was released in 1976 and followed the story of three sisters who start off singing in their church choir in 1950s Harlem and ultimately find success in the music industry. The remake takes place in 1968 Detroit during the rise of Motown.

Currently, Epps is starring in his own standup special, Mike Epps Presents, and is on a national sold-out comedy tour, "Mike Epps & Friends". Epps' fans will remember him from this year's "Jumping the Broom," which also starred Angela Bassett, Paula Patton, Laz Alonso and Loretta Devine. He recently wrapped production in the psychological voodoo horror film "Vipaka" opposite Forest Whittaker and Sanaa Lathan.

Tickets to Mike Epps' show at the Fox are on sale now. They are priced at $25, $55.50, $75.50 and $100, and can be purchased at OlympiaEntertainment.com, The Fox Theatre and Joe Louis Arena box offices, Hockeytown Authentics in Troy (without service charge) at all Ticketmaster locations and Ticketmaster.com.
