Matt Dery's Daily Update 11-2-11

The Lions take this weekend off on their yearly one week bye, before they get back to action next Sunday in Chicago. Jim Schwartz elected to have his player's practice one day today before letting them go for the reminder of the week. Matthew Stafford sat out practice today to rest his sprained ankle. Jahvid Best remained out due to a concussion and Gosder Cherilus also did not work out.

Meantime Schwartz on a national radio show today was asked about attending yesterday's meeting between Ndamukong Suh and Roger Goodell. The coach says it was really not his place to talk about it. Suh will join Valenti and Foster later today at 2:30 on 97.1 The Ticket.

Brady Hoke and Michigan traveling to Iowa on Saturday, the coach was asked today about the criticism that his QB Denard Robinson gets week in and week out. Hoke says "I will defend him forever."

The Wings Niklas Kronwall is okay after taking a vicious elbow to the face at the end of last night's game against the Wild. The defenseman is skating today and according to Ken Holland will play tomorrow night against Calgary.
