DETROIT (WWJ) – Fans of Japanese animation or anime’ have converged on the Detroit Mariott Renaissance Center this weekend for Youmacon — an Anime’ convention.

You’ll see thousands of young people dressing up this weekend as their favorite Anime’ characters at the convention in downtown Detroit.

WWJ’s Beth Fisher spoke with Johnna Wadelin of Oak Parkwas who dressed up as a princess from the  “Code Geass:” series.

“I have a busy life. I’m in school, I’m a wife and sometimes it’s just fun to let your hair down and be a nerd,” said Wadelin as she laughed.

“Probably buy a lot of merchandise from the market…a lot of figures and posters if I can,” said Frenzke.

Frenzke says that Megaman, which is a video game and Transformers -the TV show are among his favorites.
