Jeff Riger: Are The Lions Just A Dome Team?

Chicago Bears' quarterback Jay Cutler took the time to talk to the Detroit media on Wednesday afternoon -- and he had a couple of interesting things to say.  Not only did Cutler get easily annoyed and hung up promptly after the call was over but he also insinuated that the Lions could not withstand the elements of a place like Soldier Field, the venue where the Lions will play the Bears Sunday afternoon.

"We're going to be outside, we're not be in a dome, we're going to be on grass, so it will be a little different venue for them" Cutler said.  The Bears signal caller was also asked about how Sundays game might differ from the last time Chicago played the Lions considering it was on Monday night at a sold out Ford Field.  "Totally different ballgame, they don't have that advantage on their side this time, it's going to be on our side" Cutler replied.

Of course the media did what they are supposed to do and after Cutler's comments, they asked several Lions' players if the elements of a mid November Sunday in the Windy City would be a problem?  Below are some of their answers.

Jim Schwartz: "We'll see, we played outdoors against Denver didn't we, Tampa was outdoors, wasn't it, yeah I think it was."

Matt Stafford: "Some of those games in the playoffs in high school used to get pretty cool, but since then...when I was at Georgia we were in warm weather most of the time, I don't see it really being a problem."  By the way he was pretty sarcastic, in case you couldn't tell.

Ndamukong Suh: "We've been to Chicago before, we know what type of field that it, we know the way we played there last year and the way we need to finish out going up there this year.  I don't think elements are a factor to this team because we are a team that's adjustable and I'm a person that prides myself on being able to adjust to any type of situation."

Of course it should be mentioned that the Lions are flawless on the road this season and like Schwartz commented, they have played outdoors in Tampa and Denver, so a game in Chicago should be no sweat.

But are you concerned about the so called "elements?"
