Livio's Car Internet Radio Kit Wins Top CES Award
NEW YORK CITY -- Ferndale-based Livio Radio announced that it has been named an International CES Innovations 2012 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for the Bluetooth Internet Radio Car Kit.
Products entered in this program are judged by a panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 32 product categories.
"The Kit," previewed at CES 2011, is a plug-and-play gadget that brings Internet radio and music from your iPod, iPhone or iPad to any FM car stereo. The Kit also offers Bluetooth hands-free calling, USB charging, and buttons to safely control the Livio Car Internet Radio application, all with no monthly fees.
"The first thing people see when they walk into the largest grade show in North America is the CES Innovation Showcase," said Livio Radio founder and CEO Jake Sigal. "This honor gives reminds me of the feeling when my mom put an A+ paper on the refrigerator growing up. Only now, 140,000 people are in my kitchen."
The awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association, the producer of the International Consumer Electronics Show, the world's largest consumer technology trade show, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976. The Best of Innovations honor is awarded to the products with the highest judges' scores and will be featured in the Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase at the 2012 International CES.
Livio Radio's Kit will be displayed at the 2012 International CES, which runs Jan. 10-13 in Las Vegas, Nev. Honorees will also be displayed at CES Unveiled: the Official Press Event of the International CES from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 8 in the Venetian Ballroom of the Venetian. Livio Radio will be offering demonstrations of the Kit during CES at booth 2806 in North Hall.
The Innovations entries are judged based on the following criteria:
* Engineering qualities, based on technical specs and materials used
* Aesthetic and design qualities
* The product's intended use/function and user value
* Unique and novel features that consumers would find attractive
* How the design and innovation of the product compares to other products in the marketplace
Products chosen as an Innovations honoree reflect innovative design and engineering of the entries. Examples may include the first time various technologies are combined in a single product or dramatic enhancements to previous product designs.
Innovations 2012 Design and Engineering honoree products are featured on www.CESweb.org/Innovations, which lists product categories, as well as each product name, manufacturer information, designer, description, photo and URL.
The Kit is currently available for sale at national retailers including RadioShack, Hammacher Schlemer, Amazon.com and nationally distributed by Navarre.
