GRIN To Talk Sales Strategies: The Grand Rapids Inventors Network will meet Tuesday, Dec. 13 on the topic "Successful Sales Strategies." Successful selling is an art. The event begins with networking at 6 p.m., the presentation begins at 6:30. Presenters include sales and marketing veterans Dan Luckey and Scott Colquitt. Walsh College Open Source Community To Meet: The Walsh College Open Source Community will meet Saturday, Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Walsh College Troy campus, 3838 Livernois. The meeting will feature information on Web development design and techniques from speaker Trevor Fitzgerald. Electrochemical Society To Meet: The Detroit Section of the Electrochemical Society will meet Tuesday, Dec. 6 on the topic "Battery Life Challenges for Plug-In Electric Vehicles." The speaker is Oliver Gross, energy storage systems specialist for Chrysler Group LLC. The event begins with a reception at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 and the program at 7:30. The venue is Room 406 of the Taubman Welcome Center at Lawrence Technological University, 21000 W. 10 Mile Road, Southfield. The price is $20 for members, $22 for guests and $10 for students. Inforum Inner Circle Event with Crain's Women to Watch: The Inforum Center for Leadership and Crain's Detroit Business invite you to gain inspiration and insights from an intimate conversation with a top woman executive. The next southeast Michigan event in ICL's popular Inner Circle series will take place Dec. 7 at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. The Dec. 7 event will honor the 2011 Crain's Women to Watch, who were announced in the Sept. 19 issue of Crain's Detroit Business. At Inner Circle events, each table is limited to only eight to 10 participants, including the honoree. That gives everyone the chance to be heard, make connections, and gain the kinds of first-hand insights they need to move ahead in their careers.
